About Dr. Dixon

Louise Dixon De Silva, PhD, PMH-C

Welcome to my practice! I am a licensed clinical psychologist (CA PSY 33922) serving adults throughout Los Angeles and California from my private practice. I am an expert in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and reproductive mental health. I have extensive training in providing gender-specific care to women-identifying patients on a wide range of mental health issues, including depression, anxiety, trauma-related problems, and borderline personality disorder.

I am a graduate of Wellesley College, where I majored in psychology. During college, I completed a research practicum in mood and anxiety disorders at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH). I attended graduate school at University of California Los Angeles (UCLA), where I earned my PhD in Clinical Psychology.

I completed my clinical training in CBT at the Anxiety Disorders Research Center at UCLA and at the UCLA Depression Grand Challenge. I also received clinical training in DBT at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, the UCLA Psychology Clinic, and the Veteran’s Affairs Long Beach Healthcare System (Long Beach VA). I completed my psychology internship at the Long Beach VA in Health Service Psychology, and worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the Long Beach VA in Women’s Mental Health. While on postdoc, I completed the VA’s national training and certification program in Reproductive Mental Health. I also hold a Perinatal Mental Health Certification (PMH-C) from Postpartum Support International.

In addition to seeing patients in my private practice, I am the Clinical Director of the Perinatal Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) at UCLA’s Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital and a Clinical Professor in the Department of Psychology at UCLA. I am also involved in teaching and supervision of graduate students and medical residents at the Semel Institute for Neuroscience and the David Geffen School of Medicine.
